Yellow Ledbetter è in origine un outtake del primo album dei Pearl Jam, Ten (1991), nonchè uno dei primi brani che la band scrisse nella sua formazione completa. Non comparve nell'album, ma solo come B-side del terzo singolo da esso estratto, Jeremy. Ciò nonostante, riuscì a entrare in classifica fino al 21esimo posto della Mainstream Rock Tracks americana ed è divenuta negli anni una delle più popolari tra i fan della band di Seattle. Ad alimentare la sua fama c'è probabilmente anche il testo, del quale non ne esiste una versione originale in quanto quella incisa è per la maggior parte incomprensibile. Spesso dal live (nei quali Yellow Ledbetter non manca mai) Eddie Vedder ne cambia anche le poche parti comprensibili rendendola unica ad ogni interpretazione.
